Post by cloud dreamerNow all they have to do is explain how a 14 year old Bill can be a
fully qualified viper pilot.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood& Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the
first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a
sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash
rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his
20s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest
battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but
hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret
mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war
in favor of the desperate fleet
It's wrong. Given BSG and Caprica's own timeline, Bill Adama is born a
little less than 5 years before the war starts. The war lasts 12.5
years. That makes him 14 and a bit when he joins the fleet - fully
qualified.
Syfy screwed up.
? He is older than 5 in Caprica.

...
31YR
* William Adama is born to Shannon and Joseph Adama ("Caprica").
...
48YR
* The Cylons revolt against humanity and launch the First Cylon War.
...
So he's 16 or 17 by that.

...
He was still in school when the First Cylon War started (TRS: "Razor
Flashbacks," Episode 1).
...
Therefore not 5 years old.
http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Timeline_%28RDM%29
...
69 years BCH
... William Adama born in Qualai, Caprica (Caprica pilot, Hero).
...
* Cylon revolt starts the first Cylon War (Colonial Day).
...
Again, 16 or 17.
Battlestar Wiki is working off the information available to it from the
series.
It hasn't been updated to reflect the new Bill (ie the 69 years was
assuming Willy was the Commander (11 years old in the series + 58 years
to the fall = 69) but that's not the case. It's the new Bill born after
the season ended, making him no more than 56 or 57 when the war starts).
I go by the information that is solid.
1. The First Cylon war is 12 1/2 years long (specified in Razor)
2. There are 40 years between the end of the war and the Fall (specified
in Razor and BSG)
3. Caprica occurs 58 years before the fall (specified in Caprica).
These numbers are undeniable.
So, if we subtract 12.5 and 40 from 58, we get 5 1/2 years.
Caprica premieres 5 1/2 years before the war starts.
Roughly 6 months (likely more, but *at least* six months) transpired
during the season of Caprica.
New Bill is born within a year of the end of the show (but could be
later, but lets assume she is pregnant at the end of the season). That
means Bill is no more 4 1/2 years old when the war starts.
The war is 12 1/2 years long.
That makes him no older than 17 when the war ENDS. More likely, not even 17.
He joins a bit more than 2 years before the war ENDS.
That makes him no older than 15 when he shows up on Galactica as a FULLY
QUALIFIED PILOT.
If it takes two years to be trained, that means he was 13 when he was
recruited.
That makes him just a little older than Willy and 3 years younger than
Zoe and Lacy when we're expected to believe that he can start training
in a viper.
Not buying it.
He is too young to be able to handle a viper. Starbucks injury proves
that an immense amount of strength is required to fly the ship and no
way a 13 or 15 year old could have pressed the weight that she did. Not
to mention they don't have the physical size to fit in a cockpit or the
mental capacity to fly a ship in combat. They don't have the level of
intelligence required to fly a spaceship.
Yeah yeah...you'll come back with "it's war, they're desperate, they're
putting kids in vipers."
Nope. They don't. When a nation gets desperate, they give these kids a
few weeks of training and hand them a rifle and throw them into a
trench. They don't put them into a sophisticated space craft and expect
them to dogfight with machines.
I think the writers panicked when they figured out the eye colour
problem and decided to write him out. They had Willy following in the
Commander's footsteps up to the second last episode, then all of a
sudden, he's showing signs that he isn't Bill. Then they kill him off in
a completely unnecessary manner.
At the time BAC wasn't even a twinkle in their eyes so they weren't
bothering to add up the timeline THEY CREATED. Now they're going to have
to come up with some lame excuse why a 13 year old is being trained in a
vehicle he is too young and too small to fly.
And Syfy has hired Nico Cortez to return as the young Bill Adama. He's
into this 20s and looks it.
Syfy screwed up.
