Some kind of foreign algae on a planet light years away might have all
kinds of drug properties.
Besides it seems to me that the colonials would have had seeds of
whatever for their various recreational plants on at leat ONE of their
ships in the ragtag fleet: say the Cloud 9.
or they would have whipped something up in a kind of version orf an
intergalactic meth lab.
